Boxthorn – Lycium ferocissimum
Regional Vic Farm Services has had outstanding success in dealing with the boxthorn at Cape Woolami on Phillip Island.
The boxthorn was previously spread right across the mutton bird rookeries (largest in Southern Hemisphere) and created a significant hazard to the birds. In conjunction with the Phillip Island Nature Trust, we have virtually eradicated this plant from the Cape, except for the sea cliffs. This was done using the EcoBlade in terrain that other machinery was struggling to work in.
Because of this work the EcoBlade is now the preferred method of treatment for boxthorn.
